ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Avery Life and I'm a tattoo artist in Northeast Ohio. I currently specialize in black and grey illustrative tattoos with a main focus of my work being floral and fauna. I have had an interest in drawing and have been an artist since I was a young child and as I progressed into my teenage years I fell in love with the art of tattooing. I started my journey tattooing in 2019 and have been so grateful for the time and experience. While getting to put my art on people forever is amazing I also love being able to connect with my clients each and every day. I am a mother to my wonderful 4 year old daughter. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats who are like my children as well. On my free time I like to read as well as play video games and board games. If you've made it this far I'm thankful to be considered for your next tattoo.

CONTACT
How To Book:
When submitting your contact form I ask that you please include as many details as possible such as an estimated sizing (in inches), the location of the tattoo, reference photos, and a photo of yourself where the tattoo will be going. At this time I am not doing any cover up projects so those inquiries will be declined. I do price by the piece so if you also have a budget you would like to stay within please include that in your form as well.
In my response to your inquiry you will receive a time and price quote and a link to my booking calendar. From there you will have an open look into my schedule and will be able to choose a time slot based off of your availability. Deposits are due at the time of booking in order to secure the time slot.
Thank you so much and I look forward to working with you!
FAQ
Get Informed
HOW DO YOU RECOMMEND PREPARING FOR MY UPCOMING APPOINTMENT?
I recommend the days leading up to your appointment making sure you are well hydrated, getting a good nights rest before your appointment, and eating a well balanced meal at least an hour before your appointment. Make sure you are keeping the area you are getting tattooed moisturized. I recommend wearing loose/comfortable clothing to your appointment. You can also bring water, snacks, headphones, a book, etc to your appointment if you would like.
WHAT IS YOUR DEPOSIT/CANCELLATION POLICY?
All deposits are non refundable. 1 & 2 hour appointments will require a $50 deposit, 3 & 4 hour appointments will require a $100 deposit, and 5 & 6 hour appointments will require a $150 deposit. If you need to reschedule I ask for a 78 hour notice prior to your appointment or the deposit will be forfeited. More than one reschedule of the same appointment will also result in the forfeiture of the deposit. If you need to cancel your appointment, I ask that you please reach out within 90 days after cancelling to reschedule and keep the original deposit. If you show up to your appointment more than 15 minutes late without notice, you will be considered a no call/ no show. Appointments cancelled under 24 hours and no-shows will be charged a fee of 50%. No-shows and rescheduling the same appointment more than 3 times will result in being banned from booking in the future.
AM I ALLOWED TO USE NUMBING CREAM?
Yes, I do allow the use of numbing cream. If you have never used numbing cream before I do recommend doing a test patch on your skin prior to your appointment to ensure you do not get a skin reaction from it. I also ask that you do not use a numbing cream that contains epinephrine.
WHAT DO YOU USE FOR AFTERCARE?
I use Recovery Derm Shield. It is a transparent latex free adhesive. It prevents scabbing as well as prevents exposure to any outside bacteria. If you have sensitive skin and derm does not work for you I do offer other alternatives. If you have never used it before and are worried about a possible reaction I do recommend using a test strip prior to your appointment. After the tattoo I will send you home with printed aftercare instructions for healing with and without derm.
DO YOU ALLOW GUESTS?
I do allow one guest to be brought with you to your appointment. Your guest can sit with you, hold your hand, talk to you, and support you during the process.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
I am cash only and I can accept Venmo the day of the appointment with an additional 2% charge. Deposits are paid through my booking calendar.
AM I ALLOWED TO CHANGE MY DESIGN?
You are allowed to change your design. I do ask that if you are making changes to your original inquiry regarding the design, placement, or sizing, to let me know at least 48 hours before your appointment. Major changes may result in a price/time difference. The day of your appointment you can make adjustments to your original design if needed but if the design needs major changes without proper notice the appointment will have to be rescheduled and a new deposit will be required. I do not show designs prior to the appointment and have the design drawn and prepared for you upon your arrival. Because of this, I ask for as much information as you can provide about what you'd like to include in your design before your appointment.
GETTING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT:

The address to the studio is 1480 S Water St, Kent Ohio. When following the address on the GPS it takes you to the employee parking in the back of the building. To access the main parking lot you're actually going to enter into the university plaza. We are located in the courtyard in the corner of the plaza next to Ace hardware. There is a peach sign hanging above the lobby entrance. Because we are a private appointment only studio, the door remains locked on the outside and you can only be let in by myself or another artist. Because of this I ask that you do not show up any earlier than 5 minutes before your appointment time.
CAN I GET A TATTOO WITH SUNBURN OR BEFORE I GO ON VACATION?
If you show up to your appointment with sunburn or your skin is actively peeling, the appointment will be cancelled and the deposit will be forfeited. I ask that you either be cautious leading up to your appointment or follow my 72 hr minimum cancellation policy. I recommend at least a 2 week (some may need longer) healing period after your appointment before going on vacation.

AFTERCARE
Healing with Recovery Derm Shield
Keep the existing Derm Shield I sent you home with on for 24 hours. (you may notice some colored liquid building up in there , this is perfectly normal! This is a little bit of blood, plasma and ink purging from the tattoo - it’s just your bodies immune system at work, trying to help you out).
After 24 hours gently peel the film off. (I always suggest doing so in the shower so you may have an easier time cleaning the tattoo. The Derm will definitely stick , so a little shower steam may help loosen the adhesive, plus all that liquid building up can wash away rather than getting everywhere ).
Wash your tattoo with gentle , unscented soap and warm water. Please do not use bar soap (this can have bacteria build up from sitting in your shower) My suggestion would be to use Dial Antibacterial Gold Soap (in the pump) or Dr Bronner’s Natural Soap (This is concentrated so please dilute). After getting out of the shower, please gently blot dry your tattoo with a freshly clean towel or paper towel. You want your skin super dry so your fresh Derm shield will stick to the skin surrounding the fresh tattoo.
Apply the new sheets of Recovery Derm Shield onto your tattoo. In case you’re confused with the two step process , please remove the back white layer like a sticker. Apply it to your tattoo so there is about 1’ beyond the new tattoo, you don’t have to stretch it over your tattoo, just gently press it from the middle , and smooth out the sides so any air bubbles may be released. You should be looking at the black patterned side. Now, look for the small orange arrows and peel away the top layer. Your Derm Shield should be see through, thin, and comfortable on the skin. If one piece hasn’t covered the whole tattoo, repeat this step with another layer (one at a time) until the whole tattoo is sealed.
Wear your Derm Shield for 4 -5 days. After this you may remove the Derm Shield.(Do not be alarmed if you see a ghost of your tattoo on the film as you remove it, this is just dead skin cells that have fallen off) Proceed by lotioning the tattoo with white, unscented lotion until the tattoo isn’t peeling, itchy or dry feeling . After three weeks your tattoo should be completely healed. Some areas of the body can take a little longer to heal . ( Lubriderm, Aveeno, Curel, Eurcerin, and Cetaphil are all types of lotion that would be good).
Things NOT to do while healing a tattoo…
Please avoid swimming, hot tubs, baths, sun exposure, gym equipment or shaving for at least two weeks while your tattoo is healing. You have an open wound and are more susceptible to harmful chemicals and bacteria that may interfere with your healing and your overall health. Please also try to avoid your pet touching your fresh tattoo. I know its hard, we love them so, and sometimes they can be rambunctious and excited to see you. If by chance your dog or cat touches, or scratches you , wash your tattoo immediately.
With the Derm Shield you shouldn’t have any major scabbing with your tattoo, only light flakiness once you take the film off . Please, do not pick or peel off the flaky skin, allow for it to come off naturally to avoid removing pigment from your tattoo
